Tunneling systems for field programmable spin-logic gates.

Abstrakt: Field programmable spin-logic gates can be realized with a circuit of spin dependent tunneling elements. We investigate the possibility to use a magnetically semihard reference layer in the tunneling system which is switchable (programmable) by a current on chip, which would lead to an increase of the programmable logic functions per logic gate. As the programmable reference layer system we chose Ru/CoFe and compare the magnetic stability of the tunneling system to CoFe/Ru/ CoFe and to IrMn/CoFe/Ru/CoFe reference layer based tunneling systems. We found, that the magnetic stability is a problem for the programmable reference layer system. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
