| Abstrakt: | This article discusses the relationship which existed between French artists that worked at the Villa Medici in Rome, Italy and the broader Italian artistic community that existed within the city from 1803-1840. Although previously though to have had a marginal presence resent academic scholarship on art history has shown that in fact a much wider collaboration and acceptance of French artists existed during the time period than had previously been understood. An examination of the ties that existed is presented. |
