Abstrakt: The article presents a study which evaluated the prevalence of multiresistant organism (MRO) colonisation of reusable venesection tourniquets. Among the MROs are the methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and Enterobacteriaceae harboring transmissible extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBL). The study was carried out at the Concord Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales.
