The article discusses the use of Brachypodium as a model system for researching grasses. It says that appreciating the number of germplasm orders is helpful in gauging the acceptance of Brachypodium as a model system. The author adds that Brachypodium's development as a model system has followed a new paradigm wherein the development of genome sequence resources simultaneously occurred with the development of other key resources. Examples of Brachypodium-enabled research are also presented. |
