Abstrakt: Idiopathic chondrolysis of the shoulder is an extremely rare condition. We report a unique case of glenohumeral joint chondrolysis which progressed rapidly, causing severe joint destruction. This catastrophic destructive process occurred within less than 1 month and resulted not only in the disappearance of the cartilage lining of the joint, but also in the destruction and deformation of the humeral head and some destruction of the glenoid. Clinical findings, radiographs, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear scans are presented along with the histological findings, and a literature review. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
