Abstrakt: The article presents a study which investigated the role of Chlamydia trachomatis infection as an independent co-factor or human papillomavirus (HPV)-dependent co-factor in the development of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). It was revealed that baseline C. trachomatis polymerase chain reaction positivity was an independent albeit moderate risk factor for the development of CIN2 with materially indistinguishable point estimates in both baseline HPV16/18 positive and HPV19/18 negatives.
