Cytotoxicity-guided fractionation of the stems of Helicteres hirsuta, of Indonesian origin, led to the isolation and identification of six lignans, namely, (±)-pinoresinol, (±)-medioresinol, (±)-syringaresinol, (−)-boehmenan, (−)-boehmenan H and (±)- trans-dihydrodiconiferyl alcohol.
