The authors comment on the study "Acupuncture for 'frequent attenders' with medically unexplained symptoms: A randomised controlled trial," by C. Paterson and colleagues. They note the evidence offered by the study for the effectiveness of acupuncture in dealing with difficult-to-treat conditions and medically unexplained symptoms that are linked to high healthcare service use and often managed by primary care doctors. The practice of acupuncture in different health systems is also explored. |
