The article discusses a study on the full range of loading capabilities of available exercise countermeasure devices which were then compared to the results with typical prescribed exercise days conducted on Earth and on the International Space Station (ISS). Four male crewmembers who flew on long-missions aboard the ISS participated in the study. It indicates that exercise of typical duration at maximum loading on available devices does not provide sufficient mechanical loading to maintain bone health while in long-duration missions on the ISS. |
