Gnathostomiasis in remote northern Western Australia: the first confirmed cases acquired in Australia.

Abstrakt: The article describes the first confirmed cases of gnathostomiasis acquired in Australia, particularly in remote northern Western Australia. The first case involved a 52-year-old man who developed epigastric discomfort, nausea, diarrhoea, and lethargy 10 days after eating a fish caught from the Calder River in northern Western Australia. The second case involved a 50-year-old woman who developed fevers and lethargy 12 days after eating the same as her husband.
