Abstrakt: The article presents a social-psychological study on the intervention in labor disputes. It evaluates the efficiency of compulsory conciliation efforts by mediators from a state government. It offers a series of social-psychological theories that suggest the techniques wherein a mediator may be efficient in the prevention of strikes or lockouts through an agreement between a union and a company's management. It adds that mediation and arbitration appear to be the way in which a government can lessen labor conflicts.
