The article presents information on a study which investigated the effectiveness of amphiphilic surfaces in controlling marine biofouling. A review of the related literature is given. It describes the development and synthesis of polyurethane surfaces containing tethered hydrophilic, hydrophobic and amphiphilic moieties. Atomic force microscopy was used to determine the morphologies of such surfaces, and dynamic contact angle (DCA) measurements were used to study their external environment. |
