Effect of fractional free volume and Tg on gas separation through membranes made with different glassy polymers.

Abstrakt: The article presents a study on the impact of Tg and fractional free volume on gas separation through the membranes made with various glassy polymers. The researchers prepared membranes from various commercial thermoplastic polymers and used a constant volume variable pressure gas permeator to measure the gas permeability for CH4, CO2, N2 and O2. They found that the gases are less soluble when the temperature of their condensation is lower.
