We present a case study of 1 web-based course in which the instructor leveraged Web 2.0 tools including blogs, wikis, image galleries, RSS feeds, interactive desktop videoconferencing, and the Blackboard course management system. The researchers describe effectiveness of specific design features and students' regulation of their learning in the Web 2.0 environment. Most students experienced moderate learning and chaos on occasion in the course. Descriptions of students' experiences in the innovative course setting advance knowledge regarding how read/write web technologies might be used by instructors. They provide guidance for instructional designers as they design and implement read/write web technologies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
