The article reports on the changing age profile of the U.S. in 2011. One of the most significant demographic changes in the country since 1950 is the large proportion of people aged 65 years and above. According to the author, the U.S. population had been relatively young during the first part of the 20the century due to high fertility and declining childhood and infant mortality. |
