| Abstrakt: | The article presents an interview conducted by Jerry Floyd with opera and theatre director Francesca Zambello about the U.S. staging of the "Ring" cycles. It focuses on the show's major themes, production, and cast members Nina Stemme and Gordon Hawkins who play Brünnhilde and Alberich, respectively. Eight years in the making, the production relied on American history, mythology, iconography, and landscape to fulfill Wagnerian themes of women and societal oppression. |
