Abstrakt: The article offers guidelines in helping new educators to feel less alienated and overwhelmed in their classrooms. It discusses the significance of providing new teachers with formal mentors in improving their chances of early success in their career. It explores the mentoring strategy offered by the Austin, Texas Independent School District which started giving informal mentoring to teachers before 2007.
