Bisazafullerene (C[sub 59]N)[sub 2] and hydroazafullerene C[sub 59]HN photosensitize the reaction of alkenes with oxygen. 2-methyl 2-butene and α-terpinene undergo ene and Diels-Alder photooxygenation reactions, respectively, in the presence of minute amounts of azafullerenes to produce the corresponding peroxides.
