Abstrakt: The article examines the court's analysis of California Penal Code Section 422 in cases which involve threatening hand gestures of deaf and hard of hearing people in the U.S. It notes the need to interpret the Penal Code Section 422 to reach threatening American Sign Language (ASL). It also notes the need of American jurisdictions to make sure that their criminal laws will be able to reach threats in sign language.
