The article focuses on the protection of citizens' privacy on the Internet, and the author's call to action for a law that encourages an individual right, Zero Net Presence (ZNP). It discusses cases on how the Internet may result to unintended consequences to privacy because of its speed, reach and permanence. Privacy torts, the law of defamation, and criminal law are mentioned as having shortcomings in remedies to protect individual privacy. The author suggests the solution should be ZNP to remove a person's involuntary presence on the Internet. |
