The article discusses the use of cornea collagen crosslinking (CXL) for treating progressive keratoconus (KC) and cornea ectasia. James P. Owen, OD, MBA and William J. Tullo, OD, FAAO share that optometrists need to know CXL with topical riboflavin and ultraviolet A radiation (UVA) exposure as an alternative for slowing the progression of KC. Information on the risks associated with the CXL procedure is also offered. |
