Based on verbal patterns related to stems and non-verbal clauses, in addition to direct and indirect references to the Divine Name and other parallel thematic elements, Psalm 23 falls into two major chiastic strophes (1b-4a and 4b-6). The usual division of the psalm at the end of v. 4 is changed to the middle of that verse. The first section is present tense and focused on He and me while the second is future and revolves around a I and You relationship. Additionally the entire psalm from vv. 1b-6 (1a being the superscription) is a chiasm as well. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
