Abstrakt: The article highlights the proposition law Carriage of Goods by Sea Act (COGSA) for cargo insurance which offers 500 dollars per package limitation on ocean cargo in the U.S. Circuit courts are developing methods to reduce the effects and the monetary variation on the insurance. It focuses on the reasons of cargo shippers to acquire the insurance in order to secure their shipping business against the risk of damage. U.S. Congress is aiming to protect the subrogation rights of cargo insurers.
