Abstrakt: The article discusses the continued decline in second quarter 1982 corporate profits as companies struggle with a recessionary economy in the U.S. in August 1982. The largest companies' earnings were down 16% from year ago levels, deemed the sharpest decline since "Business Week" started reporting profit figures in 1974. It presents several tables, including the Corporate Scoreboard, showing the best and worst of 885 of the largest corporations in 39 key industries. Top performer was the airlines industry while general machinery was the worst.
