Abstrakt: The article looks at the division between the eastern and western regions of Libya. Topics include the differences between the rebel capital of Benghazi and the loyalist capital Tripoli, western allegiance to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, known as "Brother Leader" in the region, and the role that the terrorist group al-Qaeda is playing in the revolution. An unsuccessful prior uprising against Gaddafi in the town of Darnah, the fight over Gadaffi's hometown of Sert, and the mujahedin rebels, are discussed.
