The article focuses on the table of contents (TOC) alert provided by publishers of professional journals in order to assist the readers. Some publishers employ Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds, which let TOCs appear in the Google Reader, for example. Features of a good TOC alert include a range of quality titles within a discipline and ability to register and gain immediate access to the TOC alert service. Information on publisher-specific TOC alerts, such as those from Inderscience Publishers and Palgrave Macmillan, is offered. |
