Abstrakt:	An essay is presented on the anachronistic critical approach invented by the vernacular humanists of Quattrocento Florentine which mapped the poem "Hell," by Dante Alighieri. The author states that the carthographic impulse stimulated the imagination of Dante as well as found the expression in the poem on the first meeting of Virgil with the pilgrim on the prologue. He relates that the authority of Dante on infernal cartography was recognized as an authorized interpretative approach to the poem.
