The article presents the author views on the relevance of publishing in the Brazilian State of Bahia, in 1811, the book "Arte da Grammatica Portugueza", by Pedro José de Figueiredo under initiative of the typographer Manuel Antonio da Silva Serva. Particular focus is given on the political and cultural importance of the aforementioned book in the Portuguese colonial administration in the transition from the 18th to the 19th century. The study also takes into consideration the editorial policies during the D. John VI kingdom in Brazil. |
