The article focuses on Standard Oil Co. Ohio (Sohio) and its need for new channels for investments. A background of the company is provided which bonanza skyrocketed from its huge reserves of Alaskan oil. The problems that came out of this rapid growth are cited in terms of the lack of staff, expertise, and investment vehicles for its money. Its three-way dilemma are mentioned in relation to the status of its oil at Prudhoe Bay. Events that propelled its sudden wealth are discussed together with diversification options it is considering. |
