Abstrakt:	The article reports that according to Roland Leucker, managing director of the German Research Association for Underground Transportation, tunnels help in saving livable surface space and also solve the problem of traffic congestion. More than 9320 miles of tracks in Europe are located underground and another 87 miles are being constructed. However, tunnel construction involves many risks and it requires a good knowledge of local hydrology and geological testing.
