Abstrakt: The article presents the results of a study conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) in Omaha, Nebraska, to assess the costs incurred by a local health department responding to pertussis outbreak. In late 2008, the DCHD responded to a school-based pertussis outbreak with 26 cases. It details the process of DCHD response to the school-based pertussis outbreak in 2008. The three-step process in which cost data were obtained is explained.
