Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which examined the suicide copycat effect following the most famous celebrity suicides in France between 1979 and 2006. Included is a chart showing the estimated increase in the number of suicide deaths following each celebrity death announcement. Results of the study showed that most common methods of suicide were hanging, strangulation or suffocation and firearms or explosives. It notes the significant effect of the Pierre Bérégovoy and Kurt Cobain suicides on the number of suicides.
