Abstrakt: | The article discusses internalization of racial oppression by minorities and the lack of research regarding its contribution to continuing racial inequality. The author calls for such research to improve understanding of the largely-unknown wounds that racism has caused and to understand aspects of what is termed White privilege. Drawing from critical social theory, the author evaluates reasons that the subject of internalized racism is avoided or considered a taboo for research after introducing the topic and citing examples. |
