The article reviews the scholarly history of the research group called "Poetics and Hermeneutics" from its first colloquia held in Bonn, Germany, to the group's final publication in 1994. The author examines the premises upon which the interdisciplinary group was founded, changes in membership from the 1950s through the 1960s, and the work centered around the activity of Hans Georg Gadamer and Carlos Spoerhase. Contributions of such German studies researchers as Walther Erhart and Hans Robert Jauß are also reviewed. |
