The author presents his response to the article "India in the Afghan Maze: Search for Options," by Doctor Vishal Chandra, who assessed India's role in a post-U.S. Afghanistan. The author argues that the U.S. may be forced to stay longer in Afghanistan despite pronouncements that there will be a withdrawal of American troops. The author believes that a plan to involve Bangladesh military forces in the Afghan War will fail. The role of India in engaging the Pushtuns in an attempt to legitimize an Indian presence in Afghanistan is discussed. |
