To study mental activity it is necessary to find and formulate a system-forming factor. In the resolution of a mental task, such a system-forming factor will be intellectual capacity, i.e., the result of problem solving. According to contemporary ideas, during intellectual problem-solving, established cerebral second-signal-system codes (linguistic, logical, numerical) are used; these codes are responsible for transforming the information in such a way that the problem can be solved. Well-entrenched mental codes constitute the operational basis of mental activity, and are the neurophysiological basis of mental operations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
