The oscillatory nucleation in supersaturated vapors of the higher alkanes: dodecane, hexadecane and octadecane has been measured using the diffusion cloud chamber technique. The frequency of oscillation shows a dependence on the physical properties of the condensing vapor. Measurements of the frequency of oscillatory nucleation can be used to measure higher nucleation rates above the typical limits of the diffusion cloud chamber. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
