We present evidence of the observation of the centrally produced φφ system at 800 GeV/c in the reaction pp → P[sub slow] (φφ)P[sub fast]. A clear bump is observed over low φK[sup +]K[sup -] and K[sup +]K[sup -]K[sup +]K[sup -] background. Statistics are comparable to those previously obtained in φ[sup -]p interactions, where three 2[sup ++] waves were found to comprise all cross section. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
