Abstrakt: The article presents a study that examined the effect of age on exercise response in normal postmenopausal women during estrogen replacement therapy (ERT). The effect of age on the response to ERT was tested using linear regression to assess whether the potential benefit was uniform across all age groups. And, for testing the effect of ERT on resting and exercise variables; HR, blood pressure, RPP, left ventricular dimensions and duration; the baseline value for each variable was correlated with the difference between the ERT and the drug-free period to determine if the effect of ERT was dependent on the pretreatment value for that variable. The effect of age on the exercise response was examined using age as the independent variable and the difference between ERT and drugs free periods as the dependent variable. The effect of ERT on exercise systolic blond pressure was correlated negatively with age, that is, as the age of the subjects increased, the exercise systolic blood pressure decreased compared with the drug-free period. It also provides a discussion on the results of the study.
