Abstrakt: Serum and cantharides-induced blister fluid levels of cefsulodin, carbenicillin and ticarcillin were compared in a semi-crossover study, after a I g intravenous bol us injection. The serum concentration/time curves for the three β-lactams were essentially similar, the half-lives being 1·25–1·5 h. Cefsulodin and ticarcillin penetrated into the fluid to a greater extent than carbenicillin. As cefsulodin is a more potent antibiotic against it is suggested that this may be the agent of choice in treating infections caused by this pathogen. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
