The article discusses the need to reform the patent system in the U.S. It examines if the existing patent system as of December 1971 is able to meet the needs of the public in the age of computers and consumerism. It cites the opinion of former government antitruster Marcus Hollabaugh on the patent section that was created by assistant attorney general Richard W. McLaren. Several personalities also cited their views on the need to reform the system, including Hughes Aircraft Co.'s James K. Haskell and Alza Corp.'s Steven Goldby. |
