Abstrakt: The article features John B. Fery, president and chief executive of Boise Cascade Corp. He was able to transform Boise from a 35 million U.S. dollars-a-year lumber company into a 1.8 billion U.S. dollar conglomerate in about 13 years, leading Boise back in the black after suffering write-offs and losses caused by its land development and home-building ventures under Fery's predecessor, Robert V. Hansberger. Fery plans to continue the decentralization policy of the company.
