The article discusses the concept of "crisis" in the historiography of Weimar Germany, including how the term "crisis" ("Krise" or "Krisis" in German) was actually used at the time, and its shortcomings as a historiographical explanation for the failure of Weimar democracy and its displacement by National Socialism. Writings on the political, economic, and social crises of the Weimar Republic are discussed, both in subsequent historical analyses and in Weimar newspapers and political and social commentary. |
