Abstrakt: The article reports that the Julius Garfinckel & Co. department store in Washington may be the first establishment to become a part of a chain of consumer cooperative stores planned by Edward A. Filene., founder of Consumer Distribution Corp. (CDC). According to the article, CDC considered Garfinckel as the type of high quality, well-established store that would fit into its plans. Meanwhile, CDC has hired Flint Garrison, former head of the Wholesale Dry Goods Institute, as part of its cooperative store plan.
