Abstrakt: The article focuses on the tragic life experiences of painter Frida Kahlo and how she metabolized and transformed psychic deadness into dynamic modes of being. It says that Frida had 32 surgeries and over 30 orthopedic corsets because of an accident she and her lover, Alejandro Gómez Arias, met when she was 17 years old. It says that the accident led her to painting, which she used as a response to trauma, illness, loss and the agonies from her marriage with Mexican muralist Diego Rivera.
