The article discusses the risk factors, pathogenesis and proteomic tools that can help in understanding head and neck cancer (HNC). The significance of proteomics as an investigative tool for identifying the distribution of proteins and small molecules within biological systems through the analysis of various types of samples is explained. The epidemiology of HNC in the U.S. is offered. It references the findings of several tissue biomarker and plasma and serum biomarker studies. |
