The 86 GHz transition of HC15N in collision with rare gases has been studied in the 130-300 K temperature range by a using coherent transient technique. Strong departures from the Voigt profile are observed. They are clearly related to a dependence of relaxation rates on absorber speeds, whereas velocity/speed changing collisions (Dicke effect) have quite a small influence, even in the Doppler regime. From a detailed analysis of temperature dependences of relaxation rates, a more realistic modeling of collisional cross sections is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
