The article discusses the court case Omar Mohammed Othman v. Council of the European Union and Commission of the European Communities, wherein a regulation froze the defendant's funds. The Court of First Instance (CFI) ruled that the rights of Omar Mohammed Othman for defence, judicial protection and property were violated, igniting questions on the protection accorded by European Union (EU) courts to individuals and entities that are caught in the campaign versus terrorism.
