Abstrakt: The article features Bill Cashore, the 14-year-old winner of the 1954 Spelling Bee competition held at the Commerce Department auditorium in Washington, D.C. in May 1954. It states that Cashore entered the competition twice before, but that he made it this year with help from his teachers and his mother. Cashore won a trip to Manhattan, New York City and a 500 dollar scholarship. His advice to others is to study hard after school and to think before spelling.
