The article reports on the development of a slender crystal of iron by General Electric scientists Robert L. Fullman and Arno Gatti in March 1954. The crystal of iron measures only 1/1000 of an inch in diameter, however, careful tests showed that it is strong. According to the scientists, the perfect iron crystal does not rust like ordinary iron since its orderly structure makes it strong to protect it from oxidation. |
